If You Give a Man a Password...

...he'll get all blog junkie on you. Thanks for supporting his new habit with all your wonderful comments and kind wishes. Now he knows how fun it is being Code Yellow.

I'm home again, and we're doing fine...

Aside from Charlie's remarkable weight, he has beautiful dark eyes and velvet thighs, and really seems to have a very pleasant disposition.

Calvin is completely smitten, but we're having to temper some "I like Charlie better than Henry" attitude. It will probably pass, but Henry's feeling it and since he worships Calvin's every breath, that's where the sibling challenge comes in. Both of them are very tender and gentle with the baby (so far).

Apparently the boys were beside themselves without me. That's kind of a nice feeling, although the unprecedented drama can be overwhelming. (Calvin wailed at the hospital, "It's just not the same without you!!!!!!" and Henry burst into tears just upon hearing my voice on the phone today before I came home.)

I'm so happy that David will be home for a few weeks - we've never had that option before, because the births of the other two both happened right before or right after David started a new job, so he couldn't take much leave at all. He is a tremendous help and it feels good to be close and to work on adjusting to the addition together.

Meanwhile, I'll be catching up on laundry, trying to get into a little groove with the new baby, and working out some sleep whenever I can. In general, I feel pretty good, although I have to say that a cough and an episiotomy don't really compliment one another.

And I will be eternally perplexed as to why I can birth ten pounds in child, another however many pounds/ounces in fluid, placenta, etc., and still only weigh four pounds lighter the next day. Although it's becoming increasingly clear that it just might be to do with breasts.

The postpartum fun begins. You all may be wishing for the bloggity husband to come back again soon...

God Bless you CYM. You're going to do great, although I would definitely let hubby help out with laundry during his paternity leave. Maybe you just focus on pairing up socks ... or folding face cloths. Nothing too extreme!

It's wonderful that your husband can be home with your for a few weeks. When those helping hands belong to your spouse - it's absolutely priceless. I will say, CYD did a great job keeping us informed during your absence. I need to do a blog tutorial for my husband so that he can provide an update when Mr. Stork comes calling. What would I do if he inadvertently deleted the whole blog?! Wow. I just thought of that...

Baby Charlie is beautiful. And I'll bet that next week at this time, you'll be 20 pounds lighter. If not, please don't tell us. I've put on 70 pound with my pregnancy thus far and expect ALL of it to be gone within two weeks of delivery. :)

Just dropping in to say congratulations to all of you. He's beautiful. And he's BIG! I imagine it does hurt a little cough right now. :-)

It's wonderful to hear from you and to see that your humor and entertaining writing were not affected by birthing a 10 lb. baby! My goodness!

Take good care of yourself. It sounds like you'll have plenty of excellent TLC.

I can't even tell you how jealous I am of paternity leave....sigh.

Cough and episiotomy=square 1.

Jay says "episiotomy" is the most unpleasant word in the English language.

Take it easy--f'real man. My two worst days were mostly because I wasn't taking it easy and got frustrated that I wasn't feeling better faster. Nothing is more important than you resting and kissing those delectable little cheeks.

p.s. So validating how much the boys missed you, isn't it? You are a good mom.

Welcome home! Episiotomies are no fun, especially when you have a cough. I hope you heal soon and I hope your postpartum period goes smoothly.

And I, too, have never understood the numbers on the scale after giving birth?!?!

Rest up!

Glad you are home and feeling well. Enjoy your time with CYD home and get some sleep; you'll be running after all three of them soon enough!

Congratulations to the whole family!

Poor Henry! I only have two, so I haven't had to deal with that particular problem. I feel for him.

Congrats on being the Mom of three boys. Raising boys is a special thing.

CONGRATULATIONS! What a beautiful new baby -- and his big brothers cuddle him so nicely! Isn't that one of the most amazing things. . . hurrah for baby Charlie, and for YOU for pushing him out! 21 hours of labor INDEED!

The same thing happened to me. I got weighed a week after I gave birth, I had only lost 6 pounds. What the heck? I had given birth to a 9lb5oz baby! It took about 2 weeks for me to lose anything more than that. Hang in there.

Welcome home! Daddies may think we're crazy bloggers, but I suspect a lot might get hooked if the situation arose...

My 1st wouldn't let go of my neck for 2 hours when I came home with #2, which was really fun with a c-section.
